The journey begins when you board the funicular in Zermatt for a 4.5-minute ride to Sunnegga. The railway, fully renovated in 2013, leads up a rock tunnel through the mountain’s interior to a sunny, scenic terrace with spectacular views of the Matterhorn.

At Sunnegga, you can enjoy exciting activities in both winter and summer! Sunnegga summer activities: visit the Leisee lake for an outdoor swim, playground for children, and barbecue area; explore the marmot theme trail with the marmot-watching station just a few minutes’ walk away. Sunnegga winter activites: skiers of all ages enjoy their first sensations of sliding on snow at Wolli’s park for beginners.

From Sunnegga, travel 7 minutes via gondola to Blauherd. Blauherd is the starting point to numerous themed hiking trails. One of them is the worldwide known 5-Seenweg (Five Lakes Walk), which takes about three hours. Within 20 minutes only, guests can reach the first idyllic mountain lake, the Stellisee, at 2,537 metres (8,323 feet) altitude. It reflects the iconic Matterhorn on its glassy surface and is most likely Zermatt’s most photographed mountain lake.

Enjoy the view, live bands and DJs on the sunny terrace of Blue Lounge, Blauherd’s restaurant
